This year’s Comic Con takes place in Lisbon, at Passeio Marítimo de Algés, from the 6th to 9th of September.
This event happens once a year in Portugal since 2014 and it transforms pop culture into a huge 4-day festival. In 2017, it broke its visitors record, having exceeded the 100,000 mark.
The first “Comic Con” event happened in 1968, in Birmingham, England. A meeting where the goal was the sharing of interests and passions related to comics.
With the growing popularity of other fantasy and fiction strands in the 1980s and 1990s, these meetings started to include experiences for the fans of cinema, TV series, games and other activities relating to pop culture.
In Portugal, Comic Con was born as a communication and interaction platform to promote this pop culture.
